Cassidy Announces $2 Million Department of Commerce Grant for Lafayatte Airport Commission

WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the Lafayette Airport Commission will receive a $2 million grant from the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration to construct and rehabilitate parking facilities at the Lafayette Regional Airport. The project is expected to create 82 jobs.

“This grant creates jobs and increases the ease of use for travelers at Lafayette Regional Airport. This is good for Lafayette’s economy and community,” said Dr. Cassidy.

“Revitalizing America’s infrastructure is a critical priority for the Trump Administration,” said Secretary Ross. “As Lafayette Regional Airport builds its new passenger terminal, the Department of Commerce applauds the local leadership that will help make the project a success.”

The grant will be matched with $3.38 million in local investment, and the parking lots will serve the Lafayette Regional Airport’s new passenger terminal building. The project results from regional planning efforts by the Acadiana Planning Commission, in cooperation with the EDA, which makes investments in communities across America to create jobs and economic growth.
