WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), released the following statement applauding President Trump’s approval of an expedited federal Major Disaster declaration following Winter Storm Fern, which caused widespread power outages, road closures, and water system disruptions across northern Louisiana. Cassidy, alongside all members of Louisiana’s congressional delegation, expressed support for Governor Jeff Landry’s request for an expedited federal Major Disaster declaration.
“This cannot bring back the lives of those whose lives were lost, but it can help with recovery. And we need recovery as soon as possible,” said Dr. Cassidy. “I was privileged to lead the letter asking that this occur.”
