Cassidy Helps Secure New Aviation Pilot Program in Louisiana

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) applauded the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for approving Houma-Terrebonne Airport for the Advanced Air Mobility and Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). The Houma-Terrebonne Airport will be utilized for testing cargo and personnel transportation capabilities for flights over the Gulf of America to neighboring commercial facilities in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. Senator Cassidy spoke with FAA Deputy Administrator Chris Rocheleau and urged the administration to choose Louisiana as one of the sites for this program.

“America’s aviation is moving into the 21st century,”said Dr. Cassidy. “That’s why I pushed to bring this program right here to Houma so that Louisiana can lead the way.”

“Senator Cassidy’s leadership and responsiveness have been instrumental in bringing this opportunity to Louisiana. Our state is grateful for his commitment and tireless work on our behalf,”said Joshua Alford, Chairman of the Houma-Terrebonne Airport Commission.
