Cassidy Calls on Fiscal Conservatives to Reject Domestic Spending Bill

WASHINGTONU.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) wrote a letter to his Senate colleagues today urging them to vote against the domestic spending bill that will add hundreds of billions of dollars to the national deficit.

The domestic spending bill repeals Obamacare taxes that health insurance companies agreed to pay, sticking American families with all of the problems of Obamacare without any mechanism to pay for them.

“Now we will have Obamacare without the revenue to pay for it. What is worse is that we gave up these taxes without any reforms to help curb the growth of health expenditures. This is a gift to everyone who wants higher insurance premiums and more spending on health care,” wrote Dr. Cassidy. “There are reforms that we could institute that would allow us to repeal these taxes but nonetheless still control health care costs.”
