WASHINGTON— U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), a member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, released the following statement today after the Senate voted to confirm Robert Wilkie, a Loyola New Orleans Law School graduate, as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
“I’m confident Secretary Wilkie will put our veterans first and I was proud to support him,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Now that we have a permanent leader of the VA in place, I look forward to working with him and making more progress on increasing transparency, expanding access and improving the quality of care at the VA.”
Last month, several Cassidy provisions were signed into law as part of the VA MISSION Act, legislation improving the quality of health care at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and ensuring veterans have access to timely care from the VA or local providers.
