NEW ORLEANS – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released the following statement honoring the 20thanniversary of Hurricane Katrina making landfall in Louisiana.
“I’ve been working for resiliency so that if we have another storm, this doesn’t happen again. And we’ve all been working to make our state a stronger place. We remember the tragedy. Let’s celebrate the rebirth,” said Dr. Cassidy.
Later today, Cassidy will join the St. Bernard Parish School Board Breakfast to recognize the remarkable speed and resilience shown by St. Bernard and schools across Louisiana in reopening soon after Hurricane Katrina.
Cassidy will then deliver remarks at the opening of the United Way Resiliency Center in New Orleans, marking the significant role the Center will play in helping Louisiana communities prepare for and recover from future flooding.
Cassidy delivered a speech on the U.S. Senate floor commemorating the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and emphasizing the significant progress made since the storm to rebuild and strengthen our infrastructure.
