Cassidy Announces $61 Million in Hurricane Relief

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will grant a total of $61,307,611.21 to the New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board, Calcasieu Parish Policy Jury, and City of DeQuincy in relief for Hurricanes Laura and Katrina.

“While it has taken far too long to receive, this funding is crucial to rebuilding our state after countless storms,” said Dr. Cassidy.

The grant is for long disputed sewer system repairs from damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.

The grant is reimbursement for the removal of over one million cubic yards of debris after Hurricane Laura.

$1,962,911.64

City of DeQuincy

The grant is reimbursement for the removal of over 100,000 cubic yards of debris after Hurricane Laura.
