Cassidy Announces $9.8 Million to Rehabilitate Louisiana’s Rural Airports

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced airports in 16 parishes will receive $9,843,973 in federal funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for taxiway construction, pavement rehabilitation, hangar construction, and more. Airports in Shreveport, Morehouse, Concordia, Acadia, Avoyelles, Jefferson Davis, Jackson, Sabine, Natchitoches, Calcasieu, Webster, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Vermilion, Caddo, and De Soto Parishes will benefit directly from these grants.

“Louisiana’s infrastructure is in need of repair — especially our airports,” said Dr. Cassidy. “These projects rebuild and improve regional airports across Louisiana to better serve rural communities.” 

Grant Awarded Recipient Project Description
$4,440,007.00 Shreveport Airport Authority This grant will provide federal funding for the Shreveport Regional Airport associated with Shreveport, Louisiana. This project also rehabilitates 3,000 feet of the existing Taxiway B pavement that requires rehabilitation to ensure safe airfield operations.
$1,144,444.00 City of Natchitoches This project reconstructs 1,200 feet of the existing Taxiway B1 pavement that has reached the end of its useful Life, at Natchitoches Regional Airport.
$1,089,200.00 Southland Aviation This project expands the existing general aviation apron to 9,000 square yards to meet Federal Aviation Administration design standards.
$714,883.00 Town of Many This project rehabilitates 1,000 feet of Runway 12/30 pavement to maintain the structural integrity of the

pavement.

$570,000.00 City of Eunice This project performs sealing and joint filling to 5,000 feet of the existing Runway 16/34 surface to extend the pavement’s useful life at Eunice Airport.
$550,000.00 De Soto Parish Police Jury This project rehabilitates 12,700 square yards of the existing north apron to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement.
$500,000.00 City of Springhill This project constructs a new 7,500 square foot 6-unit T-Hangar for aircraft storage, maintenance, or service to assist the airport to be as self-sustaining as possible by generating revenue. The sponsor has adequately financed the airside needs of the airport.
$298,000.00 Town of Vivian This project constructs 560 foot and 900 foot taxiway turnarounds on the Runway 9/27 ends to eliminate the need for aircraft to back-taxi on the runway.
$166,666.00 St. Tammany Parish Government This project rehabilitates 2,999 feet of Runway 18/36 to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.
$111,111.00 Town of Jonesboro This project rehabilitates 6,300 square yards of the existing apron to maintain the structural integrity of the Pavement, at Jonesboro Airport.
$94,500 City of Bastrop This project rehabilitates 4,002 feet of the existing parallel Taxiway A pavement that requires rehabilitation to ensure safe airfield operations and rehabilitates 4,002 feet of Runway 16/34 to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris at Morehouse Memorial Airport.
$91,162.00 City of Hammond This grant provides economic relief funds for costs related to operations, personnel, and cleaning to the Hammond Northshore Regional Airport associated with Hammond, Louisiana.
$50,000.00 Concordia Parish Airport Authority This project rehabilitates 9,150 square yards of the existing north apron to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.
$13,000 City of Abbeville This grant provides federal funding for economic relief to the Abbeville Chris Crusta Memorial Airport associated with Abbeville,

Louisiana.

$13,000 Jefferson Davis Airport Commission District Number 1 This grant provides federal funding for economic relief to the Jennings Airport associated with Jennings, Louisiana.
$13,000 Town of Many This grant provides federal funding for economic relief to the Hart Airport associated with Many, Louisiana.
$13,000 Avoyelles Parish Airport Authority This grant provides federal funding for economic relief to the Marksville Municipal Airport associated with Marksville, Louisiana.
$13,000 City of Minden This grant provides federal funding for economic relief to the Minden Airport associated with Minden, Louisiana.
$9,000 City of Springhill

This grant provides federal funding for economic relief to the Springhill Airport associated with Springhill, Louisiana.
