WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today introduced the Make Border Security a Priority Act to finally secure the border and make it a top priority again. The bill would match every dollar sent to help Ukraine defend itself with an equal amount to fund border security.
“Securing our own homeland should always be a top priority,” said Dr. Cassidy. “We can secure the border and take steps to stop Putin at the same time.”
The Make Border Security a Priority Act would fund the construction of physical barriers along the border, resuming construction of the border wall, and would give Customs and Border Protection (CBP) the tools needed to secure the border through increased funding for equipment and resources. This bill uses seized Russian assets to fund the increase in border security, effectively making Vladimir Putin and Russia pay for it.
