WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) introduced a resolution commemorating the 52nd anniversary of hip hop and recognizing its significance to American life and Louisiana culture. The resolution designates August 11, 2025, as “Hip Hop Celebration Day,”August 2025 as “Hip Hop Recognition Month,” and November 2025 as “Hip Hop History Month.”
“While hip hop originated in the Bronx, it certainly made a home in New Orleans,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This resolution celebrates the artists, producers, and poets of the genre, and the impact it has on Louisiana.”
Cassidy was joined by U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in introducing the resolution.

It also encourages federal, state, and local governments to commemorate the 52nd anniversary of hip hop and to engage with local artists and cultural institutions in celebrating its history and influence.
