Cassidy Praises Passage of Clay Hunt Act

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. applauded the U.S. Senate for passing the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans (SAV) Act. This will seek to improve mental health support services and reduce the number of veteran suicides by providing greater oversight of treatment and expansion of successful strategies.

Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

“As a doctor, I know that with proper treatment and support we can help prevent veterans’ suicide. This is a step forward in helping veterans struggling with PTSD and other illnesses, but there is still a lot of work to do.”

Dr. Cassidy introduced the Veterans Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Care Act. He is a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee. He previously supported the Clay Hunt Act in the House.
