Cassidy Statement on Democrats’ Latest Partisan Election Takeover Bill Attempt

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. released the following statement on the Democrats’ far left “compromise” on the Democrats’ partisan election takeover bill after the motion to proceed failed on the Senate Floor. This bill, which is a compromise between the Left and the far-Left, is another attempt to federalize elections, overrule state laws, and undermine election security. It forces taxpayers to fund political campaigns and bars common-sense voter I.D. laws.

“Democrats can try to dress this up differently as much as they want, but no costume will distract from this partisan, federal takeover of elections,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Once again this bill’s goal is not to improve election integrity but to improve the chances of a Democrat winning public office.”

In April, Cassidy penned an op-ed in The Advocate highlighting major issues with H.R. 1 calling it “a recipe for election disaster and fraud.” Cassidy wrote about the need to make voting more convenient and elections more safe and secure to ensure all eligible voters are able to vote.
