Cassidy Statement on Iran Deal

WASHINGTON— U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released the following statement after the President announced the United States and five other nations reached a nuclear deal with Iran:

“If the President gives Iran enough leeway, it’s naive to think they will not continue to develop their nuclear program. No deal is better than a bad deal. If it jeopardizes American security and global stability in any way, Congress cannot support.”

Dr. Cassidy joined CNN’s Wolf Blitzer to discuss the open letter sent to Iran explaining the U.S. Constitution’s allocation of power in regards to international agreements. He also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in May to discuss Iran’s nuclear ambitions and U.S. negotiations.
