WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) issued the following statement ahead of today’s vote on the Democrats’ supplemental aid package that does not include funding to secure the U.S. southern border.
“Securing the southern border is not a Republican ask. It’s an ask that comes directly from the American people,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Today we will listen to our constituents and demand the administration stop 10,000 illegal immigrants from entering our country each and every day. We can support our allies and secure our own border at the same time.”
Since President Biden took office, there have been over 8.3 million illegal border crossings, including at least 279 illegal crossings of individuals on the terrorist watch list. This past Sunday, there were over 10,000 illegal crossings in one day, one of the highest days ever recorded.
