WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), today released a statement after Democrats voted to block the passage of his Shutdown Fairness Act to pay federal employees who work through a shutdown like active-duty military and air traffic controllers.
“Really?! Chuck Schumer won’t pay the troops! This is wrong!” said Dr. Cassidy. “If you can’t bring yourself to cross party lines to ensure our troops get a paycheck, you should reconsider why you ran for Congress.”
Cassidy was joined by U.S. Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI), Ted Budd (R-NC), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Tom Cotton (R-AR), James Risch (R-ID), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), and Todd Young (R-IN ) in introducing the bill.
